I know there has been a long break in my posts. My husband and I and our daughter and son-in-law all went to Tanzania and Rwanda on a 10-day National Geographic Expeditions trip, and it was wonderful.
In Rwanda we climbed up (twice) to see mountain gorillas, and see them we did!
In Serengeti and Ngorngoro we saw all the expected critters and birds, and a few less expected ones. We saw tree-climbing lions and leopards, several cheetahs, two black rhinoceros(es?), giraffes, wildebeest, hartebeest, zebras, elephants, hippos, crocodiles, and lots more. My daughter was touched by a gorilla as the mama carrying her baby cut through our line of human visitors to move to a different spot. THAT was exciting!
But what you're really here for is news about the Packwood House Museum Quilt Exhibit, and news there is.
The exhibit opened June 9 (while I was away, unfortunately), and co-chairs Sherry Walter and Betty Steffensen did a wonderful job finishing it up in my absence (not that I was doing more than manual labor in hanging the exhibit anyway). Here are some pix:
"My" indigo Irish Chain quilt with the 312 names on it is second from the right in the photo above.
This is a knock-your-socks-off exhibit. Please come see it!

The photos of the exhibit are wonderful! A friend of mine and her quilting friend came over from NJ last week and loved the exhibit in the gallery as well as the displays in the house. They spent hours enjoying and learning about the quilts from the tour booklet as well as the museum's informative guides. Jane

Your Africa trip sounds wonderful and brings back great memories for me. I went to Tanzania, Kenya and Ethiopia and saw all the same animals as you. Isn't it a wondrous country?

The show is lovely. I plan to bring a group to the Packwood House on Friday, if our visitor from the Czech Republic is at all interested in quilts. I tell everyone how lovely the quilts are. See you there!
